About Ceylon Tea from Sri Lanka
Ceylon tea is tea, Camellia sinensis, grown and made in Sri Lanka. The Sri Lanka Tea Board names seven tea growing districts: Nuwara Eliya, Dimbula, Uva, Uda Pussellawa, Kandy, Sabaragamuwa and Ruhuna. The Tea Board describes Dimbula as high grown and the teas of Sabaragamuwa and Ruhuna as low grown. It also explains that a district name usually implies a particular altitude range, which is one reason why teas from different districts differ in the cup.
The Sri Lanka Export Development Board (EDB) lists black, green, white and oolong tea among the varieties exported, and says Sri Lankan tea is mostly produced by orthodox and artisanal methods. The export forms it lists are tea in bulk, tea packets, tea bags and instant tea.
The items listed in this category are black teas by leaf grade (OP, Pekoe, FBOP, BOP, BOPF and Dust 1), black teas by growing region (Nuwara Eliya, Uva, Dimbula, Kandy, Ruhuna, Uda Pussellawa and Sabaragamuwa), Ceylon green tea and Ceylon white tea (Silver Tips). No oolong or instant tea is listed. All items are listed as available on request. They are standard Sri Lankan export products described from official sources, and a listing is not a statement of stock or grade. A quotation follows your enquiry. Herbal infusions such as ranawara, iramusu and butterfly pea flower are listed separately under Ayurvedic & Herbal Products.
To enquire, email us from the Contact page or the How to order page. State the type of tea, the district or elevation you prefer, the leaf grade, bulk or packed format, the quantity, the destination port and any documents you need.
