Product Overview

Ceylon black tea is grown across all seven tea-growing regions of Sri Lanka, according to the Export Development Board. The Board lists Pekoe among the whole leaf grades of orthodox Ceylon black tea. Orthodox manufacture is the traditional method, in which the leaf is withered, rolled, aerated and dried. The Sri Lanka Tea Board says Pekoe refers to tea made from the just-unfurling buds of the tea bush. Pure pekoes are rolled tightly into a near spherical shape, and the Tea Board notes that they need great care in manufacture. The rolled leaf is easy to tell apart from the long strands of OP and from the smaller broken grades. Typical uses are loose leaf packs, tea in packets and blending. This tea is listed as available on request, as a standard export product of Sri Lanka. Packaging is available on request. Send the grade, quantity, packing and destination port by email from the Contact page or the How to order page. Documents and test reports can be discussed for each order.
