About Wooden Products & Carvings from Sri Lanka

The Sri Lanka Export Development Board (EDB) describes the country's wooden product exports as consisting primarily of furniture, parquet for flooring, brush handles, wooden panels and wooden toys. Its list of exported wooden products also includes carvings and ornaments, handicrafts, household utility items, table lamps and jewellery boxes.

On the craft side, the EDB craft sector report identifies wooden masks with Ambalangoda in Galle District, elephant carvings with the Central and Southern Provinces, and lacquer ware with Hapuvida in Kandy District. The report describes Sri Lankan crafts as largely hand-made, and says artisans produce to their own designs and to designs supplied by buyers. The report dates from March 2012.

The items listed in this category are carved wooden masks, carved wooden elephant figures, treated rubberwood furniture and wooden toys made mainly from rubber wood. Lacquer ware, parquet, wooden panels and the other products named above are not listed. All four items are listed as available on request. They are standard Sri Lankan export products described from official sources, and a listing is not a statement of stock or of the timber species of any piece. A quotation follows your enquiry.

To enquire, email us from the Contact page or the How to order page. State the item, the dimensions, the wood you prefer if any, the finish (raw, polished, painted or lacquered), the quantity, the packing, the destination port and any documents you need. Wooden goods are often subject to plant quarantine and timber rules at import, so list any treatment certificate or timber declaration that your customs authority requires.
