Product Overview

Ruhuna is one of the seven tea-growing districts of Sri Lanka and lies in the Southern Province. The tea-growing terrain is coastal plain with low hills towards the interior. The Sri Lanka Tea Board classes Ruhuna tea as low-grown, cultivated at an altitude not exceeding 600 m. The soil and the low elevation make the tea bush grow rapidly, with a long leaf. The Tea Board calls full-flavoured black tea a Ruhuna speciality. Its Ceylon Tea site describes leaf of a distinct blackness and a strong, rich, full-bodied taste. Ruhuna factories produce a wide variety of leaf styles and sizes, including tips. The Export Development Board notes that low-grown teas give good colour and strength and are popularly drunk with milk. This tea is listed as available on request, as a standard export product of Sri Lanka. Packaging is available on request. Send the region, grade, quantity, packing and destination port by email from the Contact page or the How to order page. Documents and test reports can be discussed for each order.
