Quality Control and
Product Specifications

Quality starts with a clear specification. This page sets out what to tell us about the grade, form, tests, packing and documents your market needs, so that the quotation matches what you buy. Documents and test reports can be discussed for each order.

For each order
  • Specification agreed before production
  • Samples on request
  • Documents discussed for each order
  • Packing agreed in the quotation
  • Grade and form stated in the quotation
  • Test reports discussed for each order
  • Label details supplied by the buyer
  • Market requirements told to us first

What to Specify at Each Stage

For each stage below, tell us what your market requires. The details are agreed with you before an order is confirmed.

1. Growing

Tell us if you need a particular growing region or variety. We will say what can be offered for that product.

2. Harvesting

Crops are seasonal. Tell us when you need the goods, so that availability can be checked against the harvest.

3. Processing

State the form you buy, for example whole, cut, ground, dried or as oil, and any processing requirement your market sets.

4. Testing

Tell us which tests your market requires, for example moisture, microbiology or residues, and the limits you buy to. Documents and test reports can be discussed for each order.

5. Grading

Many products are sold by grade or size. State the grade you buy, or send your specification sheet, so that the quotation matches it.

6. Packaging

Tell us the pack type and the pack size you need, bulk or retail. Packing is agreed in the quotation.

7. Logistics

Tell us your destination port or airport and the shipping term you prefer. The shipping page explains the options.

Testing and Test Reports

Import rules and buyer specifications differ by market and by product. Tell us which tests you need and the limits you work to when you ask for a quote. Documents and test reports can be discussed for each order.

Residue limits

Tell us the pesticide residue limits that apply in your market.

Contaminants

Tell us any limits you buy to, for example for mycotoxins or heavy metals.

Microbiology

Tell us the microbiological criteria in your specification.

Moisture and physical quality
