Product Overview

Vanilla is grown in Sri Lanka mainly as a home garden crop in the mid and low country wet zone. The Department of Export Agriculture names Kandy, Nuwara Eliya, Matale and Kegalle as the main growing districts. It notes that the total area is small, so supply is limited. Pods mature 8-9 months after pollination. Curing has four steps: killing, sweating, slow drying and conditioning in closed boxes. Cured pods are then graded by length and bundled. The department gives a quality specification of pods 17-25 cm long, dark brown or black, with a shiny, oily surface and moisture of around 25%-30%. Vanillin from vanilla is used as a flavour in confectionery and in perfumery. Cured vanilla pods are listed here as available on request, and packaging is available on request. Send the pod length and quantity you need, quantity, packing and destination port by email from the Contact page or the How to order page. Documents and test reports can be discussed for each order.
