Product Overview

Ceylon cinnamon is the dried bark of Cinnamomum zeylanicum, a tree native to Sri Lanka. The Department of Export Agriculture says cultivation is concentrated along the coastal belt from Negombo to Matara. Peeled bark is rolled and joined into long pipe-like quills, a craft the Department describes as unique to Sri Lanka. Alba is the first grade in the official quill tables. It has a maximum diameter of 6 mm and a minimum of 45 quills of 42 inches to the kilogram. The Department says Alba is mainly produced by very skilful peelers and is filled with only one or two inner fillings. The quills are light brown, soft and fragile. Typical uses are cooking, baking, confectionery and flavoured tea. Alba grade is listed as available on request, and packaging is available on request. Send the grade, quantity, packing and destination port by email from the Contact page or the How to order page. Documents and test reports can be discussed for each order.
