Product Overview

Terra-cotta pots and vases are named by the Export Development Board (EDB) craft sector report in the range of giftware and home decoration products of Sri Lanka. EDB says the country has a long history of clay-based products and that pottery is a small and medium scale industry. It describes earthenware clay as the common red clay, whose clean layers are used for pottery. EDB defines terracotta as fired clay and says its colour depends on the fired colour of the clay. Potters shape pots on a turning wheel known as the Sakaporuwa. EDB notes that decorative pottery was coloured and glazed, while pottery for domestic use was often not decorated. Typical uses are home decoration, giftware and craft retail. Shapes, sizes and finishes are agreed for each order. These pots and vases are listed as available on request, as a standard craft export of Sri Lanka. Packaging is available on request. Send the shapes, sizes and finish, quantity, packing and destination port by email from the Contact page or the How to order page. Documents and test reports can be discussed for each order.
