Product Overview

The cinnamon tree of Sri Lanka, Cinnamomum zeylanicum, carries essential oil in its leaves and its bark, and the Department of Export Agriculture says the two oils are chemically different. The Department of Cinnamon Development says the leaves and shoots removed during the cinnamon harvest are the main raw material for leaf oil, and that steam distillation is the primary extraction method. Leaf oil is the eugenol type: the Department of Export Agriculture names eugenol as its main chemical. The Export Development Board describes the oil as lighter in colour than bark oil, mostly brownish-yellow, with a spicy and musky aroma. The export tariff has a cinnamon leaf line under the essential oils heading, H.33.01.90.30. Typical uses are food flavouring, perfumes and fragrances, soap and shampoo, and insect repellents. This oil is listed as available on request, and packaging is available on request. Send the grade, quantity, packing and destination port by email from the Contact page or the How to order page.
