Mustard Seeds

Mustard Seeds are the small round seeds of the mustard plant, a Brassica species, called aba in Sri Lanka. They have a sharp, pungent taste that develops when the seeds are ground with liquid or tempered in hot oil. In Sri Lankan cooking they are used in curries, in pickles such as achcharu and in ground mustard pastes.
